To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Theakston Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival, the longlist in 2023 will be made up on 20 titles, which are selected by an academy of journalists, reviewers, booksellers, bloggers & podcasters, members of the Crime Writing Festival Programming Committee, and representatives from T&R Theakston Ltd, The Express, and Waterstones. The final judge for the Theakston Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year Award is you! Your vote matters, and will help decide, along with votes from our Awards Academy, the Crime Writing Festival Programming Committee, and representatives from T&R Theakston Ltd, The Express, and Waterstones, who will claim one of the 6 spots on the shortlist. Who will ultimately take home the most wanted prize in crime fiction will be determined by the results of the public vote and the deliberation of the select judging panel. The public vote constitutes one vote on the panel of judges. The Winner will be announced, live at the Theakston Old Peculier Crime Novel Of the Year Award ceremony, on the opening night of the Theakston Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival, in Harrogate, on Thursday 20 July 2023.
